Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1
How can I contact the DDA Device on line service?
The DDA On Line Service is available through an automatic expert system. Click on menu "Expert". In this way a deep questions/answers system brings you toward the solution of your problem. In case a solution of your problem cannot be found, the system allows you to write a message.
Question 2
Does DDA device work with Ducati Monster models?
Unfortunately Ducati has been wrongly reported on his site that the DDA is an accessory for the Monster model. This is not true yet! The DDA for the Monster models will be market available on 2nd half of June 2009. The DDA devices purchased before that date are only SBK, Hypermotard and Desmosedici compatible and they cannot be upgraded with a new firmware.
Question 3
In which computer can I use my DDA?
DDA has been designed in 2006 for computers with Microsoft Windows 2000 or greater. In the meantime, Windows Vista has been released and also Windows Vista 64bits. At the same time, even the DDA device has been advanced. Here below you have a map that manages the operations needed for the different kinds of DDA devices:
  • DDA first version. Recognizable from its color black and the rear of its packaging which either has not a code or has the code 28620401. In order to work with Windows Vista, such DDA device needs a firmware update. To this aim, see the FAQ "question 4" and FAQ "question 6". Moreover, if you want to use such DDA in your Windows Vista 64bits, after the firmware update you must also update the PC software using the last version (version 2.0.4. or greater) and follow the instructions on FAQ "question 5".
  • DDA Desmosedici. Recognizable from its color red. Such DDA does not need a firmware update since it is Windows Vista compatible by design. Instead, to use it on Windows Vista 64bits a PC software update using the last version (version 2.0.4. or greater) is needed, moreover you must follow the instructions on FAQ "question 5".
  • DDA evolution. Recognizable from its color black and on the rear of its packaging is printed the code 28620401B. Such DDA does not need a firmware update since it is Windows Vista compatible by design. Instead, to use it on Windows Vista 64bits a PC software update using the last version (version 2.0.4. or greater) is needed, moreover you must follow the instructions on FAQ "question 5".
Question 4
Does DDA work with Microsoft Windows Vista?
Taking into account the terminology introduced in the previous FAQ "question 3", the device "DDA first version" does not work on Windows Vista while data are downloaded from the device, and the same problem happens with particular USB controllers also on Windows XP and 2000. If you want to use your "DDA first version" device on your Windows Vista or on your problematic USB controllers Windows XP/2000, you have to change the software inside the DDA Device (namely, the firmware). Due to a constraint of the firmware as issued from our factory, probably you cannot change such firmware neither from a Windows Vista PC nor form a PC with problematic US controllers, while you can change the firmware using another PC (where the DDA, as is, works correctly!). Hence, please, follow these steps:
  1. Find a PC where the DDA correctly works. We know that this can be a problem! Please, keep in mind that the DDA was designed before Windows Vista and for standard USB controllers.
  2. Download and install into such PC the Flash-Updater that you find here and the Last Version of the software (version 2.0.5).
  3. Execute the Flash-Updater program with the DDA device connected to the installed and working USB port.
  4. Download and install into YOUR PC the Last Version of the software (version 2.0.5).
  5. Try your DDA device into your PC! If the problem you had is still present, only a fiew setting must be done:
  6. If the problem you had is still present, download the .zip file "DDA-Speed.zip" into YOUR PC and execute one of the .reg file in it. Depending from the speed of your USB ports, one of the .reg file is the correct one.

After the steps above your DDA device is ready for your PC.

Question 5
How can I use the DDA software on my 64bits Windows Vista?
Starting from version 2.0.4, the DDA PC software is compatible with all the 64 bits Windows system. The unique limitation is due to the Windows 64bits driver loader, which requires all signed drivers. In order to load also not signed drivers, like the DDA driver, you must press F8 on your keyboard at the Windows system start-up. Pressing F8 the system prompts you the option "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement": choose it!
Question 6
The firmware of my DDA is updated. Notwithstanding this, the DDA does not work!
First of all, the updated firmware works only in conjuction with software version 1.0.5008 or greater.
If the usual problem is still present, download the .zip file "DDA-Speed.zip" into YOUR PC and execute one of the .reg file in it. Depending from the speed of your USB ports, one of the .reg file is the correct one!
Question 7
Do you suggest the updating of the firmware?
If, and only if, your device is a "DDA first version" (see the terminology on FAQ "question 3").
